The Convivio range is the result of an evolution in design, culminating in the clever merging of materials into a single product, utilising the natural characteristics of both pewter and ceramic; the execution of which is much more complicated than the elegant simplicity of the design concept.
The idea of the Convivio plate was to make a perfect match between the two materials without using any kind of adhesive at all. Due to the fact that by nature the diameters of ceramic plates can never be exactly equal, the bands are adapted by hand for each item in order to ensure maximum adhesion. The clever fusion or pewter and ceramic is unique, an art perfected and handcrafted by Italian pewterers, producing a solid yet soulful plate, perfect for serving the main course, equally suited to formal and informal dining. The gentle hue of the pewter rim subtly contrasts with the ceramic, and looks especially dramatic when the different sized plates are stacked, ready for a meal.
