This Jonathan Adler stoneware owl vessel features melted ground glass in sparkling orange, blue and mossy tones cooled to a crackled finish, with a simple brown and white owl motif on the reverse.
Jonathan and his team design and sculpt the models in their Soho studio. Prototypes are then sent to their workshop in Peru where skilled artisans produce each piece in high-fired black stoneware. Recycled ground glass melts during firing and pools into reservoirs of glossy colour in the hollow recesses. Finally, white oxide stain is rubbed into the textured surface and the piece is lightly waxed after firing to create an appealingly smooth finish.
