Some tips before you come in store to peruse our wonderful selection of rugs.
Here are some hints that will help you when you are faced with the different selection of sizes, colours and styles.
Measure the space where you want to put the rug and bring the measurement in store with you.
You should measure:
the whole room dimensions (if you are looking for a larger rug)
the width and length of a hallway (if you are looking for a runner)
the size of ‘gap’ (in between furniture) or near the doorway if you are looking for a medium sized or smaller rug
the size of the table - if you want to use one of the smaller rugs as a table or coffee table runner.
In terms of placement, size and type of rug - it’s up to you what kind of look you want to achieve.
Colour, pattern and tone can all enhance the feeling of a space. A rug doesn’t need to be the same colour as the rest of your room if you want it to provide a strong contrast or a pop of colour. Alternatively more subtle colours and matching tones will blend into the space and create another layer of texture.
Size is important when you think about how you will use the space. A small rug as a central focal point can be just as effective as a large rug that gets covered by parts of furniture. And when purchasing a rug for hallways - width matters, all of our runners come in slightly different widths and it is important to get this right so the rug will fit the hall.
Quality, when you purchase a rug from our collection, all of our rugs are unique, new or well-loved vintage handmade pieces and should, with care, last a lifetime.
And if you are still having a problem deciding which rug is right for you, we offer an approval service where you can take a rug (or two, or three…) home with you to try out. It is not until you get the rug in place that you will really know if it right for your space.
